The Marion Bobcats defeated the Fulton Railroaders, 7-4
The Bobcats completed a two game sweep of the Railroaders in Fulton with their best yet season start. While the Railroaders showed some signs of life during the game, the Bobcats managed more scoring from their offense. Marion produced 10 hits which included 3 solo homeruns from Cody Kottich, Cameron Chestnut and Desmond Roberts. Fulton's offense cranked out 9 hits with Brandon Eggenschwiler leading the way going 3 or 5 including a 2 RBI homer to tie the game in the 3rd. The Bobcats regained the lead in the top of the 4th and added more every inning through the 7th for their total of 7 runs. The Railroaders put up their final 2 runs on the board in the bottom half of the 7th inning. Marion stranded 10 on base while Fulton left 9 hanging. Marion's winning pitcher Todd Braze went 7 innings giving up 7 hits, 4 earned runs and 2 walks, he struck out 8. Daniel Szathmary threw the 8th and Matthew Vollenweider the 9th to pick up a save. Fulton's Steven Dooley takes the loss and threw for 4 2/3 innings allowing 5 earned runs, 8 hits, a walk and had 4 strikeouts. Both teams now take 2 days off then on Tuesday, June 8, the Bobcats head to Owensboro to face the Oilers and the Railroaders travel to Tradewater to take on the Pirates.
