The Marion Bobcats defeated the Fulton Railroaders, 7-1

The home opener in Fulton went far better for the Bobcats than it did for the Railroaders. Marion amassed 14 hits to Fulton's 5 with both teams committing only one error each. The starter and winner for the Bobcats was Josh Anders going 6 innings giving up 4 hits, walking 1 and striking out 5 of 23 batters faced.  Marion used 3 more pitchers, one in each of the remaining 3 innings of play.  The only unearned run for Fulton occurred in the 7th from a throwing error.  Fulton starter Dylan Lynn went only 4 innings allowing 7 hits, 2 walks, and had 5 strikeouts with 4 runs (1 unearned) scored against him, he takes the loss.  Two Railroader relievers could not stop the Bobcats bats as they double their hit total in the remaining 5 innings.  Offensively, catcher Taylor Banks went 4 of 5 and scored twice to lead the Bobcats.  Also for Marion, Cody Schmitt hit 3 of 5 with 2 RBIs and AJ Dokey got the only extra base hit on the evening with a double. For the Railroaders, center fielder Nick Duff got 2 of the 5 total hits for Fulton. Both teams meet again on Saturday evening in Fulton for game 2 with the Railroaders hoping to reverse the loss.
